Like new.....almost

Have you ever accessorised something, with a refreshing result?

I finally replaced the steering wheel cover in my little car the other day; the old cover was cracking, crumbling & basically falling off; it certainly was not doing the job that it was designed for.

I had previously taken it off for that very reason, but after a couple of days of driving with a sticky, crumbly steering wheel, I gave up & put it back on.

So, on Saturday I went to an auto parts shop, spent a small amount of money and bought a new one. It took about 5 minutes to remove the old one, & stretch the new one to fit. What a difference; the steering wheel is now more comfortable to hold, it smells new & even though the interior is old, it actually makes it feel fresh.

So what addition have you made to something needed sprucing up. What difference did it make.

Oh, by the way, tomorrow is rubbish collection day, so the old steering wheel cover will be gone forever.

Security at the airport

Last night we took my mum to the airport to see her off on her trip to NZ. After she checked in, we proceeded to the security check point so we could go up to the departure gate to see her off.

Now if you've been to any airport in recent times, you'll know that when you go through security, you have to empty out all your pockets, take off any jewelery, & then go through the scanners, which beep at you if they don't like you.

We had Chloe with us, asleep in her pram. When we got to security they wanted us to take her out of the pram, fold it up & send it through the scanner separately. Now I have no problem with the security procedures, but taking a sleeping baby out of a pram is perhaps going too far. Isn't that what the walk thru scanners are for, prams also.

To make the situation worse, the supervising official was very cold & couldn't have cared less; Very unhelpful.

In the end, Jo didn't go through, she said her goodbyes downstairs, but a friendly helpful official would have been appreciated.

Can anyone help??

Here's a question for all you techies out there. I found a new template that I want to use on this blog. I've downloaded to my computer & then tried to upload it to my HTML template. It gave me some error message.

I then switched to classic blogger mode & inserted the new template that way, which worked fine, the only trouble is that in the classic version, the customize page elements feature is not available, which I really need. I tried upgrading back to Beta blog, but I had to chose a new template, & it won't let me use the new one I've got.

Does anyone know how to use a new template in Beta blogger?? I'll be your best friend forever. You can either leave any suggestions in the comments section of this post, or send me an email. Thanks.

The joke's on you

Next time you step into a port-a-loo, make sure you double check your location first. The people in this video look a bit puzzled.

A flat start to the day

Have you ever tried to use something with a flat battery?

I had downloaded an MP3 off the net this morning intending to put it onto my MP3 player & listen to it on the way to work.

I got up ten minutes earlier to allow time for it to download & then copied the file to my MP3 player. I then put the MP3 player in my bag & headed out the door.

When I arrived at work, I got myself organized, took the MP3 player out of my bag, put the earphones in & pressed the ON button. Nothing happened. I tried it a couple more times without any success & realized the battery must be flat. No I didn't have any spares!!

I was quite disappointed, because I was looking forward to listening to a radio programme that I got from the Internet, but these things happen sometimes & life must go on.

Has that ever happened to you, or do you make sure you have spare batteries with you??

I've replaced the battery, & now look forward to listening to it tomorrow.

Wacky Wednesday

A roller coaster is one of those adventure rides that you might go one once a year at the local royal show, right.

Apparently a man wanting to reclaim is old Guinness World Record, after it was taken off him, took up the challenge of riding on a roller coaster for 7 days straight.

After 7 days on the ride, he is said to be going strong, & not ready to get off in a hurry. He wants to make sure his record is never broken.

Oh by the way, officials say he is allowed off the ride for 5 minutes every 2 hours for a comfort stop.

I don't know about you, but one ride on a roller coaster is more than enough for me.

Life seems too busy

Is it me, or does life just seem to be always busy?

It seems like there's always something to do, somewhere to go, people to see. Yesterday (Saturday), Jo & I did not spend half an hour at home all day. We went to the shops in the morning to get stuff in preparation for the rest of the day. I was intending to get a haircut, but that didn't happen because I didn't even have time to wait in the queue.

We went home, fed & changed Chloe & then headed out the door again. It was my nieces 7th birthday & we were going to see her for lunch. It was lovely to see her & the family, but we left there about 1:30pm & drove home again, fed & changed Chloe again, had a brief sit down before heading out the door once for to go to a friends wedding.

When we finally got home about 8:30 last night, we put Chloe to bed & sat down in front of the telly & put on a movie. That was short lived, as I soon fell asleep in my chair. We headed off to bed about 9:30pm.

Have you had a day like that lately? It's one thing after another. When you've got a 3 month old baby it's even harder.

After yesterday's efforts, we decided to have a rest day today. The thought of getting up & heading off to church this morning didn't really seem too appealing. Sunday is a day of rest is it not??

A sigh of relief

If my working week could be represented by an open book, at the end of this week I would've closed the book shut, never to be opened again.

My job as a courier driver is usually fairly straight forward & simple. I might have a busy or bad day every now & then, but not every day as it has been this last week. I've had extra work to do every day, & have been home late most evenings.

Some reason this week, come the end of the day, there's always an urgent job to be picked up that must be delivered today, not overnight, as our system is supposed to operate.

The last couple of days our air freight from Sydney has not arrived on time, so due to no fault of our own, we ended up with two days of freight to deliver in one day. I managed to finish the week & got home at a reasonable hour, so now a rough week behind me, I can have a couple of days off & look to the week new ahead. It's gonna be great.
