AFL Round 13 Tips

Well after a split round 12 the last 2 weeks, it's back to normal now. Here are my tips for round 13.

Essendon vs Melbourne - Melbourne

Geelong vs Sydney Swans - Geelong

Fremantle vs Carlton - Fremantle

Brisbane Lions vs Port Adelaide - Port Adelaide

St Kilda vs Richmond - St Kilda

Adelaide vs West Coast Eagles - Adelaide

Farewell Mr Blair

Today British Prime Minister Tony Blair stood down as Prime Minister. According to this article, he was showered with ovations from his collegues, but the critics who are protesting the Iraq war, were celebrating his departure.

Now obviously I don't know the man, & I've been to Brittian, but from what I've seen & heard of him, he has done a good job. I'm not sure the reason he has left, but I know it has been coming for a while, I just hope that the new PM will do as good as Mr Blair has done. I guess we'll just have to wait & see.

2006 Census Results

On the 8th of August last year (2006), every person in Australia filled out a Census form, answering questions about home, age, religion, & many other things. Today, 27th June 2007, the Australian Bureau of Statistics released their results. A few of their findings were:

The number of people counted (including overseas visitors) in the 2006 census was 20,061,646.

In the 2006 census, there were more females (50.6%) than males (49.4%)

The number & proportion of Australians stating they were never married, separated, or divorced in the 2006 census increased from the 2001 census.

The funny thing is that, the population statistic is already out of date. With baby Chloe now here, the population is already increased by 1.

Will we ever be satisfied?

We've just had a couple of days of good rainfall here in Perth. The gardens & lawns are starting to green up again, & more rain is forecast on & off for the next week.

Many people, including the farmers who have suffered major drought are still saying that it is not enough. I can understand their situation, especially when it's their lively hood at stake.

At the same time, some parts of NSW (Sydney) have experienced major flooding over the past fortnight. Some say it's the worst they've ever seen & they've had enough of it.

The thing I find is that there is always too much or too little. People never seem to be satisfied with what they get. Some want more, while others want less.

Now while we have no control over the weather patterns, we all think we know best. My question is, isn't some rain better than none at all??

Shopping Chaos

This afternoon Jo & I went out to our local Woolworth's to do our weekly grocery shopping. Even before we got out of the car, we were stuck in a traffic jam, in the car park.

We went in & did our shopping, while trying to squeeze our way through the many trolleys, down the, what seemed like narrow isle of the supermarket. There were trolleys everywhere, people & kids everywhere.

One could be mistaken to believe that either the shop as going to permanently close at the end of the day, or that this was the last opportunity ever to stock up on grocery's.

Once we finally got to the checkout the queue really started. The store had all 10 checkouts open & they all had a lineup of trolleys waiting to be served. It seems to be that Saturday's are really not a good day to do shopping. It must be the fact that everyone is too busy during the week to go out, so everyone heads out on the weekend. It also seems that every week is getting worse. I hate to see what next week will be like!!

What's your opinion

It has been announced this week by Australian Prime Minister John Howard, that the federal politicians will receive a pay rise. Surprisingly, no one has opposed.

I'm no expert & I don't understand the fundamentals of politics, so I don't know whether this pay rise is justified or not. What about you.

I hate it when that happens.....

On Friday I posted my AFL footy tips for round 12. One of the games I tipped Adelaide to win over the Kangaroo's.

After some expertly influence from a source who shall remain unnamed, I changed my tip before the game, & picked the Kangaroo's to win.

Well that game is now over, & let's just say, Adelaide didn't win & I should've stuck with my gut on this one. DO'H
